Sudbury

The town of Sudbury is situated approximately 18 miles West of Boston. Easy access to major routes includes Routes 20, 495, 290, 85, 2, and the Mass Pike.

 

The historic landmarks welcome residents and tourists to appreciate the history of this town. Longfellow’s Wayside Inn (the oldest operating Inn in the country), the Grist Mill and the Little Red School house attract travelers from all over the world. Sudbury militia participated in the Battle of Lexington and Concord, as well as, the King Philip War. The 4th of July parade is a popular event in a town with 01776 as its zip code.

 

Outdoor recreation and protected natural surroundings are essential highlights of this town. There are 9 areas of Conservation Land that are town owned and an additional 11 areas of Conservation Land that are controlled by open space land trusts such as the Sudbury Valley Trustees. Hiking, Walking and Cross country skiing trails are abundant. Sudbury is bordered by several towns offering additional access to recreation land.

 

The Sudbury Recreation Dept is active, running a children’s summer day camp, maintaining soccer and baseball fields, tennis courts, manmade ice rink, road races and weekly summer concerts. The town indoor pool is ideal for lessons, swimming, and competitive events.

 

The Sudbury Public Schools and Lincoln/Sudbury Regional High School have an award winning reputation across the state. There are 4 elementary schools (K-5), one Middle School (6-8), and a regional High School (Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School (9-12). In 2021, Boston Magazine’s annual list of Best Public High Schools in Greater Boston, ranked LSRH #6. This is a highly competitive list of regional high schools.

 

The athletic and theatre programs at LSRHS are notable. Graduates include award winning actors Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Strong (series Succession).

 

The Goodnow Library is known for its children’s programs and adult offerings. Famous speakers, book authors, and educational programs are exceptional.

 

There is a wide selection of family owned restaurants offering a diverse menu to enjoy. Restaurants include Italian, Indian, Mediterranean, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and American fare.
